At Foothills, our wish to grow spiritually is the heartbeat of all that we do, it is our highest priority. We have chosen to view every aspect of our program through this lens of furthering spiritual development. Because it is our mission to provide an excellent school program in which children are able“To increase in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man;” we teach our students that we increase in favor with God by becoming His friend and treating each other as He would.
Spiritual growth can't be quantified like academic achievements, mere numbers aren't't enough to communicate the change that our students experience by being on a campus dedicated to sharing the gospel and the good news about Jesus. We invite you to come experience it for yourself by visiting our campus! Here are some of the many ways our students are growing spiritually:
Our students experience worship everyday. Some of the ways you'll see our students participating in worship include singing worship songs, playing instruments, sharing prayer requests and leading out in prayer, listening to chapel speakers, connecting with our visiting pastors, an in classroom devotionals. We invite you to schedule a visit to campus so you can experience it for yourself!
Each year the school board and staff choose an area for particular spiritual development and focus. With each theme the school staff choose a set of Bible verses, worship songs, learning objectives, and symbols. As each school year closes the students and parents begin asking, "What's next year's theme?" Students frequently request to sing our past theme songs and refer back to theme ideas as they continue making connections and growing spiritually. Some themes include:
Our students participate in daily Bible classes wherein students delve into the Bible and its stories to learn more about God's plan for living a happy, healthy life. The lesson objectives are developmentally appropriate based on the child's age and understanding.
Our school is in harmony with the beliefs and worldview of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Seventh-day Adventists believe that the Bible is the only source for what we believe. It is with this Biblical perspective that we interact with people, build classroom programs, carefully choose curriculum, and teach lessons. We measure everything we do by our mission based on Jesus' example in Luke 2:52 "To increase in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the Protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians. Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity. Foothills admits students from many different faiths. While we are a distinctly Seventh-day Adventist school, we look for potential students who are in good standing at their current school and are willing to uphold the standards and core values of Foothills. It is with this “larger view” of education that we invite you to enroll your child in our school and partner with us to educate them for life here and through all eternity.
